I have always had a love of food, but it's not always been good food!
An extended period of world travel and living in other countries sparked my appreciation of how other cultures view and use food to influence their health.
Whilst living in the USA during my university studies over 15 years ago, I can admit to fully participating in the fast food revolution, and definitely feeling the effects around my waistline!
However, travelling through Asia and a period of living in Australia began to show me the real benefits of a more natural, less processed diet and a more active lifestyle in terms of overall health.
Although the majority of my career has been spent in management positions in higher education, it was seeing close family and friends struggle with serious health conditions that finally pushed me to follow my fascination with nutrition. I embarked on my nutrition journey by studying for a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy at the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM).
I am now a fully qualified Registered Nutritional Therapist, a member of the British Association of Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT), the professional body for Registered Nutritional Therapists, and I am also registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the UK voluntary regulator for complementary therapists.
I am also an Assistant Clinical Supervisor at the College of Naturopathic Medicine, where I support final year Nutrition Therapy students in their nutrition clinics, helping them develop their clinical skills.
